The Urgent Fury: CRUCIBLE RULEBOOK
These rules for the UF tourney pertaining to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare should be read BEFORE you sign up for the CRUCIBLE and BEFORE you begin your tournament. Knowing these rules helps your clan and all others have the most enjoyable time in this tourney.
Rule Set #0: Rule Amendment During Tournament Play
0: During the entire tourney, if there is a discrepancy in the way a clan perceives a rule, the way a rule affects another rule in an unforeseen way, or in any instance where something was not covered within the rule sets to begin with, the following procedure will take place.
> After the Admins find there is a complaint, the Admins will first try to offer an explanation/interpretation to satisfy all parties and to get tourney play resuming as normal again.
> If this cannot be done, then the Creators will turn to the Clan Reps and hold a vote. The remaining Clan Reps will vote as to whether the rule needs to be changed or not. Each clan will have an equal voice in these matters.
> If the Clan Reps feel that the rule or rules DO need to be altered, then the Creators will take that and re-work the ruling, both for the immediate instance, if necessary, as well as the long-standing rules we're all to follow during tournament play. Clan Reps and clans will not have a say in HOW the rule is changed, but only to acknowledge that it needs to be altered. The Creators will hear opinions on the matter, and change the ruling as they see fit.
> Once a rule is altered, there will be a forum-wide announcement stating so, but it should fall on your Clan Rep's shoulders to MAKE SURE that your clan is fully aware of the change.
This is a simple disclaimer to make certain that hell doesn't break loose in the event that a rule was inadequate or altogether missing from the rule set. Mistakes CAN happen, but we try to fix them as quickly as possible.
Rule Set 1: Beginning Procedures for Launching The UF: Crucible
1: A total of 16 teams will be participating in The Urgent Fury: Crucible. The two Urgent Fury Creators (Undertow, Sniper) will determine the 16 clans chosen to participate in the tournament after reviewing all submitted applications. As well, the Creators reserve all rights to keep out any clan(s) they feel will not fit in this tourney, either by online actions, temperament on these forums, or simply because the quota for the 16-team limit was reached. The Creators of Urgent Fury are not obligated to disclose any reason for not accepting a particular clan into Urgent Fury and are only concerned with the complete satisfactions of all clans participating in the tourney.
A: Please note, you cannot enter a TACMAP tourney without first entering and successfully playing throughout the duration of a UF Crucible run. All applications to a CoD4 Tacmap tourney will be immediately disregarded until your clan has entered and finished a UF: Crucible.
B: Once chosen to participate in The UF: Crucible, each clan is responsible for appointing a CLAN REP for their clan. This Clan Rep (CR) is responsible for all maneuvers for their designated clan, as well as being in charge of informing all their clansmen of any updates and/or changes to the happenings in the tourney. In the best interest of your clan, PLEASE make your Clan Rep the most responsible and most available member of your clan. They are in charge of getting to this forum on an almost daily basis to make sure your clan is informed of all happenings in this tourney.
C: A clan may only have ONE Clan Rep change during the course of the UF tournament. At any time, due to a lack of strong etiquette, a Clan Rep may have a Clan Rep vote brought against him. If that Clan Rep is expelled, your clan can appoint a replacement. If, after further instances, another Clan Rep vote is brought against your new Clan Rep and he is expelled, then your entire clan will be expelled from Urgent Fury. We are not here to baby sit whiners and immature children. For your clan’s sake, make CERTAIN that your Clan Rep understands what is expected of him.
Rule Set 2: Standby Clan Alternates
2: No alternate clans will be needed for The UF: Crucible. Should a clan drop out or be removed before the start of The UF: Crucible, another applying clan will be contacted to fill the open position.
A: If a clan removes itself from The UF: Crucible after tournament play begins, their spot will remain vacant and the playoff bracket will be altered to accommodate the change.
B: If a clan is ejected from the tourney by the UF Creators for conduct issues and failure to adhere to warnings, then their spot in that league will remain vacant and the playoff bracket will be altered to accommodate the change.
Rule Set 3: Season Details
3: The UF: Crucible will begin with a 4 week “regular season”. The 16 participating clans will be put into 2 leagues of 8 clans each, divided evenly between the "Desert Sea Division" and the "Red Razor Division." A total of 8 matches will be played over the course of the regular season, one against each league rival, and one “inter-league” game against a clan from the opposite league. The overall won/loss/tie record of each participating clan in The UF: Crucible will determine its seeding for the single elimination “playoff” bracket which immediately follows the four week regular season.
A: Each week of the 4 week season will consist of 2 matches per clan. Matches will occur each Monday and Wednesday at 9:00pm (CST) Central Standard Time.
B: Each match will consist of the week’s preselected map (as chosen by the Admin) being played twice. The HOME team will play as the FIRST team option on the team-choice screen, and the AWAY team will play as the SECOND team option. NO ONE is to utilize the "auto-assign" feature in this tourney. After the first map is played, then each team will play the same map a second time but on the OPPOSITE team offered on the team-choice screen. The winner is determined by TOTAL POINTS WON in the matches. If there is a TIE in points won, the match ends in a draw.
C. Each week of the 4 week season will feature a different map in the CoD4 map rotation. These maps will be announced by the Admins of The UF: Crucible before that week starts.
Rule Set 4: Playoff Details
4: Immediately following the 4 week season, a single elimination bracket will be played to determine the winner of The UF: Crucible. All clans will enter this bracket but will be seeded based on its performance during the 4 week season.
A: For the purpose of determining the playoff seeding, wins, losses and ties will be assigned point values. For each win, a clan will be awarded two points, a tie, one point and a loss, no points. The first seed for each league will be the clan with the most number of points after the 4 week season is over. A maximum of 16 points (8 games x 2 points per win) are possible.
B: Tiebreakers are (in this order): Total Points Won, head to head record, inner-league record, home record, away record, inter-league record.
C: At the start of the playoffs a meeting of all Clan Reps along with a UF: Crucible Admin will occur. At this meeting each clan will choose a map as their own to be played during The UF: Crucible playoff bracket. The map may be any map in the CoD4 standard game. However, the only mode that will be played during all playoff matches is Team Deathmatch. Each map may only be selected ONCE per map mode. The order of map picking will be determined by which of the two last place teams has the lower point total. That team will choose first, followed by the last place team from the other league. Then back to the first league for the 7th place clan, alternating back and forth until all clans have chosen a map. If a clan is not present, it forfeits its choice in the order, and will be assigned a map by The UF: Crucible Admin after all other clans have picked.
D: Playoff matches will consist of 2 maps with a 3rd universal tiebreaker (selected by the UF: Crucible Admin). The first map played will be the higher ranking clan’s map. The second map will be the lower ranking clan’s map. Winners of the matches will be determined by the victor in the best-of-three map confrontation.
E: The single elimination bracket continues until there are just two teams left, one from each league. Those two will play in a championship match to determine The UF: Crucible champion. This match is no different from the previously explained playoff matches, except the two final teams trade their respective maps which were selected at the initial playoff meeting.
Rule Set 5: Clan Rosters & Player Eligibility
5: All clans that finally receive a formal invite to join in the Urgent Fury tournament are required to submit their most current roster lineup. Any player on your clan's roster NOT listed in the official lineup list will NOT be eligible for play in any UF-scheduled war for that month, until your roster can be updated again.
A: Upon being selected as a participating clan in The UF: Crucible, all clans MUST submit a 1-roster list of NO MORE than 32 players (a full, active roster's worth of players). This is to ensure that all clans, no matter how large or small, compete on an even playing level in regards to available soldiers.
B: Your players have to be sporting the exact same clan tag in wars and must be on the 32-man legal UF roster submitted to the UF tournament. Players not found on a clan’s official roster list will not be eligible to war in The UF: Crucible.
C: During the course of The UF: Crucible, clans may add or subtract players from their listed active roster during the FIRST DAY OF EVERY MONTH, from midnight to midnight. This is done to help keep the list of eligible players manageable for the creators of this tourney.
D: Players from invited clans to the most current UF tourney cannot, at any time during the course of the most current UF, switch from one clan on CoD4 to another for any reason whatsoever. If a player leaves or is booted from their clan during their clan's march through The UF: Crucible, that individual is also disqualified from the entire tourney with any other clan. This is to help circumvent any potential ill will between clans during the tournament. The only time a switch is acceptable is when the clan being left has dissolved and is no longer a clan existing in CoD4 or after both teams are done with the course of their tourney.
D-1: An amendment to the above rule is that Urgent Fury is allowing gunners to be a part of one clan in Socom (for the Black tourneys) and another clan for CoD4. UF will recognize rosters for CoD4 as their own entity apart from any dealings on a Socom-based tourney. All details of this particular scenario should be worked out between the two clans of any gunner in question. UF will not mediate any situation of this nature.
E: You are to list your players in a numbered column. For example:
1: ooo*UNDERTOW*ooo
2: x-Sniper-x
3: 6ravity_ _
4: Joe_Blow
We will NOT be numbering your roster for you, so please do it EXACTLY as it is written here, without the use of an alternate symbol.
F: Clan Reps, please take note. You MUST submit a player’s name EXACTLY how it appears in the game. If your player uses any numbers, symbols or punctuation marks in their name, be it at the beginning, middle or end of their name, the official UF: Crucible roster MUST show that. Even if one tiny little symbol is off, and that player is caught playing a war on your team, your team forfeits the war due to an ineligible player. The reason for this rule is because ANY deviation from the actual name could "potentially" be another CoD4 name. Get the names right the first time! We are NOT kidding!
G: All clans are to check out EACH OTHER'S rosters before the start of the war. If you notice someone incorrect on the roster of the opponent, you will tell them immediately in the lobby, so that the offending clan has the opportunity to bring in a legal player WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT FOR THE START OF THE WAR, or play the man down in the war. IF both clans begin without having to call on any ineligibility issues, all players are considered LEGIT and, even if there is a case of ineligibility found DURING the war, it is too late, and the war goes on AS IS. This will effectively eliminate any practices of "allowing" a clan to begin knowing they already have an ineligible player on their team in order to get a free win.
Rule Set 6: Discouragements While In-Game
6: The following is a list of EXPECTED etiquette during match play as well as interaction between clansmen and adversaries on all websites, online lobbies and forums associated with The UF: Crucible.
A: There will absolutely be NO threats, remarks, insinuations, posts, messages, images or quotes involving the use of racial, religious, politically motivated or instigating, or disrespectful sexual slurs on ANY platform of UF. Any record or instance of this kind will be dealt with swiftly from a player disqualification from the tournament to the elimination of the entire clan, depending on the severity of the incident and the number of clansmen (man) involved. The Creators of UF will deliberate the penalty and the verdict will not be rescinded.
B: It is expected of all clan leaders and Clan Reps to inform their clan personnel that there is to be NO DEROGATORY OR ASSAULTING TALK once the countdown to the beginning of a map has commenced. ANY infraction by a rude, careless clansman should be reported to the Admins of The UF: Crucible so that warnings can be handed out. Documentation on your clan practicing in this unsportsmanlike behavior will be filed and may affect your clan's chances at continued activity in the Urgent Fury arena. These wars are fought on the field with guns, not in the lobbies with childish smack-talk.
C: There are to be NO EXCESSIVE SHOOTING at the dead bodies of opponents. This tourney isn't about that kind of play. We cultivate honor and maturity here in UF, and with that come respecting your opponents. An infraction of the above will result in a warning to that player from a UF creator. Any second infraction of the above will result in that player's suspension from UF: Crucible for a period of ONE FULL MONTH, locked into your roster, as in, they cannot be taken out at the beginning of the next month to accommodate another player who CAN participate in your wars.
D: It is encouraged, though not strictly a rule by any means, that only the Clan Rep (or the clan/team leader for that night) speak in the lobby for their team until the match starts. This will reduce the risk of any bone-headed remarks by any of your clan mates when the lobbies should be respectful.
Rule Set 7: Player Drops, No-Shows & Forfeits
7: The following rules pertain to proper procedure for DROPS and NO-SHOWS during war.
A: At ANY time that a MASS DROP occurs at the BEGINNING of a war, the map must be aborted and the HOME team must make the new room again.
B: A "MASS DROP" will, for the duration of UF: Crucible, be categorized as such an event when the game ends prematurely because of a host or server drop. When this happens, the match is to be replayed from the beginning with all progress reset.
C: Please note: if a match needs to be restarted because of a server/host issue, that drop, or however many drops are suffered, NEEDS to be reported appropriately in the war report.
D: No matter HOW MANY players from a clan show up, a scheduled match MUST be played at the designated time and cannot be rescheduled for any reason. If a sorely outnumbered clan wishes not to go through with their war, they can opt not to show at all and forfeit their match.
E: The schedule for wars are as follows and there are to be NO exceptions:
1: The HOME team will make the room ON TIME. Make it 5 minutes early to make CERTAIN the room is up at the designated time and that you have enough time to invite all of your participating team members in as quickly as possible.
2: At the BEGINNING of the lobby, the HOME team is to sound off on who their "party leader" is to determine who the "host" is. In the case of a drop due to server or host issues, the previous "host" is NOT to be the party leader or the maker of the re-made match to minimize the possibility of another weak-connection drop.
3: The start of the war MUST begin NO LATER THAN TEN MINUTES after the designated start time of the war. At TEN MINUTES, no matter the number of clan attendance for either side, players must commence play and the host must launch the match.
4: The maker/host of the room MUST ASK the opposing team leader if that clan is ready to go if the time has not yet reached 10 after BEFORE he/she launches the match.
5: THE NUMBER YOU GO IN WITH IS THE NUMBER YOU PLAY WITH. If you have late clan members, they are NOT allowed to join once the match has begun. If they join the match and participate in one live round and getting a kill, that clan is disqualified from that war.
6: Under NO circumstances should the start of a war be held up for ANY reason. People, I know there can be a courtesy here to wait, but we encourage you NOT to, and to begin the war ON TIME. If you cannot get clan mates at your war at the time designated, then take that problem up with your player(s). There is NO GUILT in requiring that a clan begin at TEN MINUTES after the designated time of the war. Some clans caught on this may say that forcing them to start short-handed, but on time, isn’t very “honorable” of the other clan. However, the way the situation should be looked at is that THEIR player isn't showing enough respect to EITHER team by showing up late. The wars start ON TIME.
G: At NO TIME will a clan be able to switch out a player in mid-war (referred to as "subbing"). Once your clan heads into a war, the team you walk in with is the team you walk out with. If your clan is caught illegally subbing during a war, then your clan will automatically LOSE that war. The 2nd infraction will result in your clan's expulsion from the tourney, no questions asked. This also includes players who get dropped and can't, for some reason, get back on. If the dropped player, because of connection problems, cannot log back into the war, then the war finishes WITHOUT him and his team plays short a body.
H: If, by fault of the game, a player is spawned UNDER the ground or, by any normal account, spawns in a place not set by natural game standards (typically known as a “glitch”), then that player is NOT to engage in any combat and is to immediately leave the game and get invited back into it to hopefully solve any problems.
Rule Set 8: UF War Match Parameters
8: The system for wars in The UF: Crucible is outlined below. All are to be remembered and followed for each and every war.
A: All rooms MUST be made no later than 9:00pm CST Central Standard Time. The room is to be made by the HOME team at the time of that particular war. NOTE: if the room is up late, then the HOME team forfeits the match. In your best interests, please have the room up at least 5 minutes before the actual start time. A 3rd party UF clan member can be called upon to verify that a room is not up on time and invites TO that room are not sent out.
The room must be set up with the following parameters:
> All wars in The UF: Crucible will contain maps of VARYING GAME PARAMETERS. Please see the STICKY POST at the top of this section for the EXACT parameters for all UF: Crucible wars and the modes chosen for those wars.
> Each and every war will be played with an 8v8 limit on each team. No team may play with more than 8 for any match, though a team may play with less than 8 if they have to.
> As with the evaluation tourney of SOCOM in the UF: BLACK tourneys, the use of ALL EXPLOSIVES is banned from this small, 4-week tourney. All claymores, mines, grenades, rockets, grenade launchers and any other similar explosive device CANNOT be used in this tourney. All flash, smoke and stun grenades, however, CAN BE USED. Any infraction of this rule WILL result in the offending clan losing that map entirely. As a courtesy and as insurance for a good war, both teams should remind all players that this is a no-bomb tourney. All explosives are saved for the CoD4 tacmap tourneys.
B: In the lobby before the war, if a team refuses to start at 10 minutes after the official start time of the war for whatever reason, including waiting for a late arrival, then that team forfeits and there will be no war. A 3rd-party UF clan member can be called upon to verify that a room has not launched.
C: It will be known that ALL maps for the entirety of The UF: Crucible will be comprised of all mode types EXCEPT Free-For-All.
D: If a clan uses any banned weapon in The UF: Crucible AND obtains a kill by that banned weapon's use, they automatically forfeit the ENTIRE war in which the use of the banned weapon occurred. Repeated abuse of this rule will result in that clans removal from The UF: Crucible.
E: All air support is DISABLED for the UF Crucible, and all friendly fire is ENABLED.
Rule Set 9: PROPERLY REPORTING YOUR WAR
A: At the END of the war, one representative from each clan will report in to the UF: Crucible forums and report the match results in the War Report Section.
The information should be posted using the following template:
Subject line of the post/thread should read as: [AWAY TEAM] @ [HOME TEAM, Week [Insert Week#]
And the posts should include:
1: The HOME team
2: The AWAY team
3: Point total for HOME team
4: Point total for AWAY team
5: Number of server/host drops for the duration of this match
Good luck to all clans.
Read and memorize these rules so that you and all of your peers can enjoy a great tournament!
- Urgent Fury Command
