Looks interesting... I have the whopping 2 games, so adding another 1/2 would be reasonable...

For some.....the graphics on that game look bad ass and it looks like it will be fun. As I have said before.....FPS=nono......Respawn=nono.....mad dash to just rack up kills=nono....
Socom is FAR FAR FAR from perfect but I like the whole third person"realism" tactical team based shooter. I could care less about graphics or "pretty" animations when I shoot somebody in the head.
I would be lieing if I said I would never get the game though. I'm just going to wait and see what you guys say about it (Goldbug and IAMazing since we feel the same about FPS) and if UF adds a Killzone 2 tourney.
For people who like this kinda game....its prob gonna be awesome. I just responded to say....for some.

All you guys need to stop beating around the bush
THE REASON YOU'RE APPREHENSIVE TO PLAY THIS IS BECAUSE ITS FIRST PERSON
It's wayyyy harder than a TPS, And sorry to say Bleachy boy wayyyyy more tactical than socom. When you eliminate the ability to see around corners and over fences and such, you need to rely about 500x more on your teammates. As for realism, Socom only nibbles on realism, The only thing about it that is realistic are the names of the guns and the way they sound... other than that... its a squirt gun game, (Snipers = Super Soaker XL9000's)
I know everyone's loyalties lie in Socom as it was one time THE BEST GAME IN THE WORLD... but that era is over. Under new management, the franchise is crumbling...It's hard to admit cuz we all love ourselves some good steamy socom... but this game doesnt deliver... on amazon.com this 3 month old $40 game is now at 17 dollars for used copies... thats hilarious....
We need to mature and move on and challenge ourselves to the more eliter gaming community of FPS'ers... Socom is just... casual now... and its boring playing 7 maps..over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and socom over and over and over and over and---

I love socom, and will still play socom, but I have played the beta for KZ2 and it is an awsome game... I rem playing in a 12 vs 12 room , and it was awsome.... The game can be made into a very very tactical shooter, although in the beta everyone was run and gunning because they wanted to test everything.
Is it better than socom? I dont know, but IMO its not as addictingas socom is to me.
although I will be buying this when it lauches:) I alreayd have it preordered... demo comes out in 5 days for me:)

Barol,
I have to disagree with your reasoning on FPS being "harder." While you are correct that in a TPS you can corner camp and look around the corner...that is only one side of the story. Knowing that your enemies CAN see you without you seeing them FORCES you to be more careful/tactical when moving around a map. The fact that you can not look around corners in a FPS shooter makes it "easier" because I know my enemy can't camp around a corner and jump out when I am two feet away (or it is atleast much harder for him to do so).
Knowing this, I can head down corridors/hallways/bridges KNOWING that somebody isnt corner camping. This makes free movement much less tactical. In Socom, as you know, when you approach areas where an enemy can watch ur every move without you seeing him until the very last second....it causes you to be INCREDIBLY cautious or risk waiting 5 mintues before you can play again. So the same reasoning you give for a FPS to be "harder" at the same tme makes it "easier."
Also, saying you need to rely on your teammates more in a FPS simply isn't true. When you are playing a game that is MAINLY respawn....talent over teamwork is key. When there is no penalty for dieing...what is the point of being tactical or using teamwork....just respawn and kill as much as you can. I'm being very general and realize that on certain game modes there probably is a certain level of teamwork needed. However, no matter what the game mode, respawn will always require less teamwork and tactic than a regular game.
As for realism....I put it in quotations for a reason.
Once again....for some.

I dont know about talent over team work anymore, FPS are not the nice old TDM, DM, CTF styles anymore. From Call of Duty's War and Sabatoge game modes are two great examples. As well as Battleilds renound Conquest, and other new style Gold Rush. Also what you do have to realize, FPS cannot see as much as Socom, so you still have to be really careful, you have to always look around, you can not just run out there. The enviroments compared to Socoms are much greater to blend in with, move around and plan attacks, and rather elobarate traps. As for FPS respawn, there are game modes that do mock Socom's breach, and demolition where you do not come back as well, and you can greatly modify the rooms, as well as gameplay compared to Socom.
Thats my view on it..

Here is some proof about skills not mattering that actually happened today when I was on CoD.. Comparing the two, when I did extremely outstanding we still did not win (otice another guy 55-6 on my team), when I did good another time we barley won that actually, it was in the tiebreak. When I play with a good team I only get max 10 kills before we take all the points, on average maybe 2 or 3 kills.

you can still camp in FPS's you just cant look around the corner, so running down a corridor is still a very bad idea lol... you might not be able to pop out in front of the guy but you can pop out behind, and unless your teammate isnt there watching your back, that corridor run was in vain, im tellin you man, in FPS's you have to keep your head on a swivel and your reaction time has to be so much quicker than in a TPS

Ficker,
I know what your talking about in terms of just running out. People can hide above or below you without you seeing them regardless of TPS or FPS. I was just responding to hiding behind corners and jumping out when someone is two feet away from you. You can't do that in a FPS like you can in TPS. In terms of teamwork, I'm just going off of what little time I spent playing Halo and COD4. To me, reliance on your teammates in FPS is not even close to that of TPS. That isn't really a knock on FPS either....teamwork is just an aspect of this "shooter" genre I enjoy.
Barol, that same arguement can be used in a TPS too....you can run down a hallway....a guy can wait for u to run by and kill you from behind....a teammate watching ur back would be just as useful....
Anyway....I think we all will play wutever game we want to play. The idea is to have fun. Hopefully the clan stays strong on both games and brings home some championships!!!
....or just has a real fun time playing together!

G4 TV on Socom:
4.0 out of 10
Sadly, I don’t review games based on what they might eventually become. This is the game the developers put out (and already patched twice), and this is the game that was reviewed. It still feels unfinished, it has tons of technical problems, it takes forever to get into games, and given the number of high-profile titles coming out over the coming months, there just isn’t any room for eventual quality.
